11/10: New - Factory Sealed Shipment Items classified as "NEW" must be in a factory-sealed box. Sellers must specify any manufacturer warranty included. Some manufacturers honor warranties only if purchased from an authorized dealer, while others limit warranties to the original owner, even if the item remains unopened. Any "NEW" listing should include a warranty statement. If absent, buyers should confirm details with the seller. Assumptions should be limited to the item being factory sealed.

Items opened for inspection or any other reason should not be rated as "New."

10/10: Mint - Like New, Unused Appearance "Mint" signifies an item that looks factory fresh. To qualify:

• Removed from original packaging, no more than a year since first use, and manufactured within the last five years.
• Electronics must be free from scratches, blemishes, discoloration, and connector wear.
• Speaker grilles should have no pulls or discoloration; speaker bottoms should not show floor wear.
• Turntables must appear unused with pristine covers free from swirls, dust, or fingerprints.
• Pre-owned and demo items rarely meet this standard. A thorough inspection is recommended.

9/10: Excellent - Nearly Perfect, Minimal Use

• Typically one-owner or store-demo items.
• Electronics should look factory fresh, with only minor dust in crevices.
• Connector plating may show slight signs of use but without discoloration.
• Speakers should be flawless except for minor stand-mounting marks on the back or bottom.
• Wood finishes must not exhibit sun fading or uneven discoloration.
• Turntable covers may show slight lift-wear but should remain clear and scratch-free.

8/10: Very Good - Perfect Front, Minor Side or Top Flaw

• Front face and front top edge must be flawless.
• Electronics may have up to two minor (max 1/2" long, very thin) scratches on top or sides.
• No rack mounting evidence.
• Speakers may have minor discoloration or scratches that do not penetrate veneer.
• Turntable covers may appear slightly hazy but free from deep scratches.

7/10: Good - Light Wear, Well Maintained

• Electronics may have minor scratches, wear on knobs/switches, and slight pitting on chrome.
• Speakers may have loose covers or minor fabric pulls but remain structurally sound.
• Turntable tonearms may show heavy scratches from cartridge replacements.

6/10: Fair - Noticeable Wear, One Major Scratch Allowed

• Electronics may have a visible scratch over 2" long or a small dent, but the front panel must remain intact.
• Chrome may have visible pitting but should not flake.
• Speakers may have a single significant scratch through veneer (up to 2" long, 1/16" deep).
• Turntable dust covers may be scratched but not cracked.

5/10: Average - Multiple Scratches, Some Front Wear

• Electronics show clear signs of use, including minor front-face scratches.
• Chrome may have minor flakes.
• Transformer covers may have rust.
• Speaker grilles may not stay on securely.
• Turntable tonearms may have broken clips, and covers may be cracked.

4/10: Mediocre - Fully Functional but Rough Condition

• Electronics may have broken displays, bent levers, or significant surface wear.
• Chrome shows severe pitting, and transformer covers are rusted.
• Speakers may have dented corners or damaged binding posts.
• Turntables may lack covers or have significant discoloration on platters.

3/10: Poor - Heavy Wear but Functional

• Electronics exhibit rust, pitted chrome, and oxidized binding posts.
• Speakers may have deep scratches or missing veneer but intact drivers.
• Turntables function but appear heavily worn.

2/10: Very Poor - Functional Issues, Damaged Components

• Electronics may have major dents, missing knobs, and inconsistent functionality.
• Speakers may have torn drivers or severely damaged enclosures.
• Turntables may have warped platters or faulty tonearms.

1/10: Shot - Parts Only

• Non-functional and suitable only for salvage or repair.
